Quixel Megascans is a library of scanned 3D assets and materials for games, architectural visualization and film. It helps artists build environments from real-world surfaces and objects rather than model every detail from scratch.
What it does Photogrammetry-based models, surfaces and decals come with production-oriented textures, UVs and levels of detail. Assets can be used across compatible engines and 3D software, including Unreal Engine, Blender, Maya and Houdini. New Megascans content is distributed through Fab; legacy Bridge and Mixer access concerns previously acquired content, not new purchases.
Pricing — checked 21 October 2026 (USD) Fab offers selected free assets and individual Megascans listings from $0.99; bundles and other assets have their own prices. Do not assume the old free-for-Unreal offer applies to every new download. Fab’s Personal and Professional Standard-license tiers grant the same usage rights: commercial projects and compatible tools are permitted, but standalone asset redistribution is not. Quixel also quotes studio/project licenses for tailored needs.
Their story Teddy Bergsman and Waqar Azim founded Quixel in Sweden in 2011 to make realistic asset creation more accessible. Epic Games acquired the company in November 2019. Its subsequent move to Fab brings Megascans into Epic’s broader asset marketplace.
