Napkin is an iPhone app for collecting meaningful quotes and ideas, then revisiting them in short, connected flows. This is Napkin Ideas at napkin.one, not the similarly named Napkin AI diagram-making service.
What it does Capture text from another app, scan a passage from a book, dictate or type a thought. Napkin groups related ideas automatically and creates reflection flows around emerging themes, without requiring folders or manual tags. The rebuilt iPhone app supports offline use with large collections and home- and lock-screen widgets. It focuses on text and rediscovery, not full document editing, image storage or project management. The website says bulk imports are not offered, and Android is not currently in development.
Pricing — checked 21 October 2026 (USD) The app is free to download, but a subscription is required to use it; the website offers a free trial. The US App Store lists “All features” subscriptions at $5/month or $40/year. It also displays $3 monthly and $30 yearly products without explaining eligibility, so these should not be assumed available to every new subscriber. Confirm the applicable offer, trial length and renewal terms in-app. The public pages do not publish a fixed idea quota or separate AI-credit/overage schedule. Regional App Store prices may differ.
Their story The independent Swiss company names David Felsmann, Fabian Wittel and Djuro Alfirevic as its founding team and says it is funded by its founders, friends and subscribers. It began with a desktop prototype; that version closed on 30 June 2026 after its technology aged out. The new iOS infrastructure is now the focus. A replacement desktop version is an aspiration, not a confirmed launch.
